Organising A Hen Party - Where to Start?
What would the bride like?
No doubt over the coming weeks you’ll hear many opinions on what each of the hens think would make a great hen party. But remember, it’s about the bride-to-be. As her best friend, you know what makes her tick. If she’s the type of girl who likes a quiet meal and few glasses of wine, she’s unlikely to thank you for arranging a wild night of clubbing and a male stripper – whatever others in the group might want to do!
Who’s attending?
At Hen Nights To Die For, we’ve arranged intimate dinners for eight, murder mystery parties for forty, but the average size is around the twenty mark and tends to be a mix of the bride-to-be’s friends, colleagues and family. Ages range from 16 right through to 60 and beyond, so think carefully about activities that include everyone. You might find you have to split the celebrations into stages; under 18s and over 50s might want (or need!) to give the wild clubbing a miss, for example.
Setting the date?
When you’re trying to get a large group of people together, finding a date that suits everyone can be a nightmare. We recommend holding the hen party 4-6 weeks before the wedding. Give the hens a choice of three dates then go with the most popular. Leaving the choice of dates wide open will mean you’ll never get a consensus.

What’s the budget?
Weddings are expensive for everyone. Spend some time looking at different hen party activities, speak to a few of the other hens, set a realistic budget – then stick to it! It’s easy for costs to snowball, and everyone’s watching the pennies these days.
Making a hen do really special for the bride-to-be doesn’t have to be about spending loads of cash. Our downloadable games like Bride-To-Be Bingo, Guess Who? and the Scavenger Hunt only cost a few pounds and are great value.
Once you’ve got these basics in place, you can let your imagination run riot to make it a hen party to remember for the bride-to-be.
